This study is one you can jump into at any time and we certainly welcome all who are interested. You do NOT have to have any prior Bible study experience. The evening group continues to meet weekly on Monday evenings at the church office. This great group is led by Kristie Buttram. The daytime group meets biweekly at a home in Woodbridge. Please let me know if you are interested in joining either group.

Psalm

This week we resumed our Bible study sessions. Our Monday evening group will continue to meet weekly and the Wednesday daytime group will meet bi-weekly. We got together this week to discuss the things God showed us as we read a Psalm a day. It wasn't always easy, but we found that as we discussed things together more made sense and we learned from each other - one of the values of small groups! Our homework for this week is to spend time in Psalm 11. If you'd like to join us, please let me know. I'll send you the homework. Remember, any time spent in the Word, is time well spent. God will bless you in ways you never expected!

How are we doing?

Has anyone started their journey into the Psalms? I just read through Psalm 3. I loved Psalm 1. It took me a while to grasp Psalm 2 and think about ways to apply it. I love Psalm 3:3-5: "But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. I cried out to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy mountain. I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me." What comforting words when going through a difficult time.

What are you learning?

New Beginnings

Spring is a time for new beginnings. Most of us look forward to the warmer weather, more sunlight, the flowers especially my favorite the tulips! Our spiritual life also goes through seasons as well. I believe God is giving us a new beginning among the ladies of LCC. There is a renewed excitement and commitment to spend more time in God's Word, the Bible. The purpose of this blog will be to keep you connected to the women's Bible study groups...to let you know what we're studying, to check on your homework, etc. Whether you can physically be at a Bible study meeting or not, you can follow along as we dig deep into the Psalms. Be sure to post your comments and let us know how God is working in your life.

The first assignment for our study groups is to read one Psalm a day, starting with Psalm 1.Start putting into practice the PRAYER acronym. (This is found in the book entitled "Six Secrets to a Powerful Quiet Time" by Catherine Martin. If you'd like a copy, please see me on Sunday.) Start by preparing your heart…a simple prayer for God to open your heart, calm you mind or even a short devotional. Then read your psalm for the day. You may want to re-read the psalm or even read it in a different translation. When you are done reading think about what stands out to you the most from your reading. Journal your thoughts, nothing fancy, a sentence or two is great. Then take that thought and think of a way to apply it to your life and include this in your journaling. Please don’t stress over this…remember the psalms are a journal itself…you may feel led to be more consistent in your scripture reading or turning to God in prayer in times of trouble.

Close your quiet time with prayer. We will work on bringing some specifics to this as we proceed, but you may need to confess sin, seek God’s guidance for the day or for a situation, be sure to spend time thanking God for His blessings.

Study groups will be meeting Monday evenings starting March 23rd from 7-8:30 pm. at the church office. This group meets weekly. The Wednesday morning group will be meeting in the Woodbridge area from 9:30-11:30 am. Childcare is provided for a fee. This group meets bi-weekly.
